The Entrance Amateur Swimming Club was formed in 1953, with Fred Lewis as the inaugural President. The club meetings were first held at Fred's house overlooking the pool and it was largely due to the efforts of Fred and his wife Gladys that many children in the area learned to swim.

On 24 October 1954 the club affiliated with the Northern District Association with the annual adult membership priced at 5 shillings (50c).

A few years later in 1956 the club's Ladies Auxiliary formed and endeavoured to raise enough money to build a clubhouse.  Every weekend they sold ice creams and soft drinks while also running fundraising stalls, film nights, dances and street raffles. The hard work paid off and less than two years later they had raised the equivalent of $2,556 - a pricely sum in 1958. Work was completed the same year and in September 1958 the members held their first meeting in the brand new clubhouse.

In 1968, Christine Deakes became one of the club's most accomplished members as she represented Australia in the Women's 400m and 800m Freestyle at the Olympic Games in Mexico. She was aged just 15.

The club is the only one on the Central Coast to operate out of an ocean pool.

The longevity of the club is attributed to an unfailing sense of community and family. The club is home to many life-long members that learned to swim in the same pool that they now bring their children to.
